This is a special offer forĀ those who just want to buy bars of the wax blend to make your own wraps, and don't need the sample wrap included in our standard kit.Ā
You have three options when selecting blocks:
Packaged Kit:Ā Select this option to have each 120 g block packaged individually with a full instruction sheet in a compostable cellophane bag.Ā Best option if you're giving as a gift.Ā
UnpackagedĀ block with 1 instruction sheet per purchase:Ā Ā We'll ditch the cellophane bag, and just include one instruction sheet with your purchase, regardless of how many 120 g blocks you choose to buy.Ā Ā Best option if you want to make multiple wraps yourself.Ā
Unpackaged block only:Ā Ā We'll send your 120 g blocks with only their protective paper wrap (otherwise they'd stick to everything on the way to you!).Ā No cellophane bag, no instruction sheet.Ā Best option ifĀ you've been here before, you know what you're doing and don't need more packaging or instructions.Ā Ā
Ā
Thereās no feeling quite like the achievement of using something youāve made yourself āĀ and it's so easy for you to make your very own beeswax wraps, using our special beeswax blend.
Itās as simple as selecting your fabric, shaving or grating your wax blend onto the fabric, and infusing the wax blend into the fabric with heat from either an oven or iron.
No special equipment, no measuring, pre-melting or blending required.Ā
And you know the recipe is right, because itās the sameĀ recipeĀ we use on our Deeās Bees ready-made wraps.Ā Your DIY beeswax wraps will be every bit as flexible, sticky, durable and hygienic as ours.
Thereās enough beeswax blend inĀ a 120 gram block to cover over HALF A METREĀ of fabric, so you could make:
Our full colour printed instructions tell you all you need to know to make your wraps using your oven or an iron to infuse the blend into the fabric, plus a bunch of handy tips and care instructions.Ā And if thereās any question we missed, just pop on over to our facebook page or drop us an email and weāll be happy to help.
And since they say a picture is worth a thousand words, hereās a short video of Leo making a wrap using the oven method:
Ā
Ā A few more things you might want to know:
Whatās in the blend?
Pure New Zealand beeswax, damar tree resin and Pacific coconut* oil.
Ā * From 6 August 2023 we've switched from jojoba oil to coconut oil.Ā Ā We love that the coconut oil is grown in our neighbouring Pacific islands and we can help their economies, and the oil is refined right here in New Zealand.Ā Jojoba is grown in the northern hemisphere, so switching to coconut saves a whole lot of mileage and is the greener, more sustainable option.Ā
Ā
I know whatās in the kit, but what else do I need?
Where do I get fabric from?
We have a selection of our most popular fabrics available right here on our site:Ā Pure Cotton Fabrics, and because they're the same fabrics we use, you know they'll work perfectly.
Or any fabric store should have suitable fabrics - look for pure cotton in a quilting or craft weight.Ā
Ā
Ā Why on earth is it in a plastic bag?
Aha!Ā Gotcha!Ā It's actually a genuine cellophane bag made from vegetable cellulose - fully biodegradable and home compostable.Ā Ā We're always happy to cut down on packaging though, so just let us know in the notes section at checkout if you're happy toĀ go packaging free :)
